MIDLAND HILL CLIMB MARSHALS CHAMPIONSHIP 2018

This Championship has been run successfully for a good number of years with very little change.

It catered for marshals and for unpaid officials and its aim was to encourage new, existing and junior marshals to attend all speed events hosted by Bugatti Owners Club, Hagley & District Light Car Club, and Midland Automobile Club.

During the years the role of marshals has developed considerably. Marshals can now be registered with the MSA and enter as cadet or trainee marshal and can rise through the structure to Examining Speed Marshal. We currently have many marshals at every grade.

Most existing marshals may be aware that, with the loss of Tony Fletcher it has been necessary to reo-organise the running of the Midland Hill Climb Championship and Midland Rescue. This is on-going.

It had been hoped to also review the Marshals Championship and to develop it to better reflect current circumstances. Unfortunately with the resources available it has not been possible to do this for 2018. It is anticipated that this review will take place during this season.

After due consideration the Organising Committee have decided that there will not be a Marshals Championship organised by the Midland Hill Climb Championship in 2018.

However, to quote the MSA, recognising that “the Orange Army is the power behind UK Motor Sport” the three clubs, Bugatti Owners Club, Hagley & District Light Car Club, and Midland Automobile Club, have decided to fund the annual Marshals Lunch.

This will be held on Sunday 18 November at the Chateau Impney. Further details will be issued in due course.
